Spending a Saturday

I woke up at 12:30 P.M. today. Took a bath, washed my hair, and shaved. By the time I finished lunch it was almost 3:00 P.M.

I really need to start getting up earlier. I've been sitting up late at night for the past few weeks. Sometimes, I'm up until 2:00 A.M., but I usually manage to make it to bed around 1:00 A.M., at least I have for the past couple nights anyway.

Typically, I usually get out of bed around 11:00 A.M. or so. I feel like the day is half over by the time I get up and start actually DOING stuff. I'm going to try to force myself to get up earlier tomorrow. That won't be an easy task.

I spent part of my afternoon doing some online shopping. Well, online "browsing." I want to get a digital camera. I already have a Web cam but I want something that I can take with me on vacations and trips and use on special occasions. Okay, so it will mostly get used on special occasions, but I think I will get a lot of use out of it. Ideally, a digital camera will help spark my creativity again too. Anything that will help, I'm open to.

I've kind of got my eye on the Sony DCS85. It's a 4.1 Megapixel camera, and a lot of the reviews I read of it were very favorable.

We will see.

All right Tom, shall we form a bond of brothers, and encourage one another to get to sleep?

I need to do that--during the last 5.5 years, I've been going to bed around 00:00, many times later, even during workdays. I understand the forces which have led to that, but I've been only mildly successful in getting that changed (or, for the Perfectly Honest, I've been mostly unsuccessful).

So, tonight I shall be up after 00:00, but will commit to being in bed before 00:00 Sunday night.

Will you join me in this effort?

Mark

I will TRY to be a good boy and get to bed earlier than I usually do.

My problem is: I'm a "night" person. I function better at night and I just love the energy of the late night hours. I can force myself to be a "day" person when I have to, such as when I'm teaching, but the actor/director/writer/artist in me just can't shake the night time energy. It's in my blood.

Even after I get in bed, I usually read for a while before lying down to go to sleep. When I lie down, my mind keeps going. I think about what I have to do the next day, the next week, etc. I also re-run the current day in my mind.

I think I need an outlet for all this energy.

Shall we be each other's "sleep cheerleaders?"

Tom:

I, too, am a NightOwl. It is quite easy for me to linger late at night, and I usually must read for a while before falling asleep. I do not think if the day or the coming week in the way you do--rather, my reading is partly intended to give my mind topics and ideas which distract me from the usual obsessions of work, and other parts of life.

So yes, tell me what time you go to bed tonight. I'm targeting for 22:00-23:00 for myself.
