Summer Reading

Since I've been off for the summer I've been catching up on my reading. I started my fourth book last night.  To date, I have read:
  1. Angels & Demons - Dan Brown - I started reading this a long time ago and finally had a chance to finish it over my break.
  2. Out on a Leash - Shirley Maclaine - Covers Shirley's escapades with the "fur people" in her life, focusing primarily on her Jack-Russell Terrier Terry.
  3. The Measure of a Man - Sidney Poitier - I just finished this book last night. It's a great read. I didn't realize that Mr. Poitier had been through so much.
  4. The Pursuit of Happyness - Chris Gardner - Yes, I know that happiness is spelled with an "i," it's spelled with a "y" in the title of this book. I just started this book last night after finishing The Measure of a Man. This autobiography was made into a recent movie starring Will Smith. I just got into the book and haven't really read enough to form a solid opinion of it, but I'm liking it so far.
I seem to be on an autobiography kick because 3 out of the 4 books above are autobiographies. I plan to get in some more fiction reading as well before the summer is over.

I've been reading mostly manga and a book here and there. How is Angels and Demons? I still haven't read The Davinci Code.

Angels & Demons is good. It's the first book with Robert Langdon, the main character from The Davinci Code. The Davinci code was my first Dan Brown book, then Angels & Demons. He has a way of writing that can keep you guessing. There is also a bit of predictability with his stories, but the writing is so good that you really don't care.

If you are going to get into his books, do Angels & Demons first and then The Davinci Code.

All Right. Thanks for the tip on Dan Brown. :) I'm still trying to finish The Vampire chronicles by Anne Rice. It's just I keep getting distracted by manga. It's a bad habit.:)

I still haven't finished The Vampire Chronicles. I stopped after Memnoch the Devil. I just needed a break from it. I have all of The Vampire Chronicles books except for The Vampire Armand.

I also have Christ the Lord but haven't read that yet either.

I thought Christ the Lord was really good! The Vampire Armand was ok. He isn't my favorite character by her. I need a break from The Vampire chronicles now and then to. :)

My favorite charcter by Anne Rice is Lestat. :) It did take a while for him to grow on me. Who's your favorite character by Anne Rice?

My favorite character by Anne Rice is Louis. The story of his brother and his love for his family in the beginning of "Interview with the Vampire" mesmerized me when I first read it. I love how she writes Louis. Lestat is a close second. I love him too.
