A New Series That is Worth a Look

I just finished watching my DVRed copy of Raising the Bar, the new legal drama from Steven Bocho that premiered this past Monday night, September 1. So far, the show is off to a good start. The writing is good, if a bit predictable, the characters and acting are good as well. Some of my favorite actors/characters include Mark-Paul Gosselaar who plays Jerry Kellerman, the public defender with a conscience.  Watching his scenes with Jane Kaczmarek, who plays the bitch-with-iron-balls Judge Trudy Kessler, it was all I could do to keep myself from jumping through the TV screen to give him a high-five. Jane Kaczmarek also did her job quite well, as watching the scenes with her will leave you wanting to throttle her. I already absolutely loathe the character she plays. Judge Trudy Kessler is absolutely disgusting. Jonathan Scarfe plays Judge Kessler's lapdog, law clerk Charlie Sagansky, who, it seems, is hiding a secret. One of my favorite actresses, Gloria Reuben, plays Rozalind "Roz" Whitman, the head of the public defender's office.

The show most certainly has legs. I'm looking forward to watching the characters evolve as the stories progress. Give it a look. You won't be disappointed.
