Good Weekend

It's been a few weeks since I last posted. I have been here and reading, I just have not really had much to post about.

Work is keeping me busy.

Yesterday though, I finally bought a new mouse for my computer. My old one died on me about a month ago.

I went to Staples yesterday to buy it. While I was in the parking lot, a man and woman pulled up beside me in their vehicle. The guy says to me, "I have this $10.00 off card for Staples and I'm not going in there, do you want it?"

I replied with a "Yes, sure" thanked him, and he and his female companion drove off.

I had planned on purchasing a Mouse for my computer and a new shredder. So I started searching for those as I made my way inside. I had already done some online browsing/shopping, so I knew exactly which items I wanted.

While looking at my shredder, I flipped the $10.00 off card over and read the back. The expiration date was 3/26/2004. "Oh well." I thought. It was a nice gesture anyway.

I ended up buying a Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse for $19.98. This is the first optical mouse that I personally have ever owned. I have used them before, just never owned one.

An optical mouse works by emitting a beam of light on your desk, and tracking that, rather than using a ball and gear mechanism that a standard mouse uses. There are less mechanical parts to break down with an optical mouse, and they are also more accurate. I love it. I am also glad I do not have to use the keyboard to work my computer anymore. That was getting a bit old. LOL

I bought a shredder that includes a credit card slot for $49.95. My old shredder had basically worn out. I bought it in 1994 or so. The blades on it have worn down so that it does not shred very well anymore. It is still useable though, so I am going to take it to my office at work and use it there.

I went to check out, and asked the lady at the counter about the card that I was given. She looked at it and asked the manager if I could still use it, even though it had expired yesterday (Friday). The manager replied "Yes."

I also ended up buying a one-year extended warranty for the shredder. It was only $8.00. There is a one-year manufacturer's warranty. After that expires, The extended warranty will kick in. If at any time during the warranty period, the shredder breaks, I have to call the company and they will send a gift card for the amount of the shredder. Then I take the card to Staples and get a new shredder.

With the $10.00 off card that I had, I really did not have to pay extra for the extended warranty. The card took care of it.

My total bill was $64.17. Not a bad deal when the items I bought were $19.98 and $49.99.

I left Staples with a smile on my face.
