Apple is Ahead of the Game Again

Once again, the Apple company and Steve Jobs prove that Apple is one of THE companies to go to when it comes to new technology.  Today, Apple unveiled iTunes version 7.0, which comes complete with the ability to download full-length movies. They also released a new 80 Gigabyte iPod, and new versions of the iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano.

The new version of iTunes is going to take some getting used to. They have re-designed the entire interface and moved some thing around.

So far, some things I like are:

1.  When downloading an album, several songs begin downloading at once, as opposed to each song downloading individually. You also get to see the file size of each song, as well as an estimated download time. These features were BADLY needed. WAY TO GO APPLE!!!

2.  There are 3 different ways in which you can view items in the iTunes software now:

  • List View: Shows all of your downloads in a text list.

  • Grouped with Artwork View (NEW): Shows each download, along with its appropriate artwork.

  • Cover Browser View (NEW): Shows each download, along with its appropriate artwork in a display that you can rotate 360.0 This view is AWESOME!!! Easily my favorite of the three.

I am going to have to search around for some of my favorite features (Celebrity Playlists, iTunes Originals, etc.)

All-in-all this is a VERY cool update for iTunes. This is just more incentive for me to finally break down and buy an iPod.
